Since up-skilling involves continued work, and learning is on the side of regular work, we understand the priority is work and you are making an extra effort to educate yourself. So, we want to go the extra mile to make sure your learning is not coming in the way of work. We will accommodate your needs and have done that in the past with several Drs.
Many Drs have an echo machine or have access to one. They have via various courses gotten to some imaging. The course is structured to lay the foundation of your future capabilities. As you will get to do more, you would want to diagnose more and understand more. You will find that what started as a need to only do echo to assess PDA, Function, Volume status and TR, will subsequently extrapolate to diagnosis CHD (vs. PPHN) in a critical newborn in the middle of the night.
If you cant leave town for Hands-on we will accommodate and help you with learning probe movements while in your office we use live video feeds to guide you in that case.
Always ready to accommodate Drs. for more focused training, for specific problems and spend a day extra later beyond the training to clear doubts.
Yes, we get asked many times: I want POC training only, not complete echo training. So here is what I ask them: how do you recognize the PDA which should not be closed (duct dependent)? How do you recognize TR of Ebstein's from that of PPHN? You will need to know as you get to do echo. WE FOLLOW THE SAME GUIDELINES AS IN NORTH AMERICA, UK, EUROPE AND AUSTRALIA FOR WHAT HAS TO BE LEARNT IN ECHO FOR NICU/PICU.
We have rapidly adapted our training program to the needs of the time and upgraded to online lectures. The classes are held LIVE SESSIONS; the difficulties are discussed in GROUP DISCUSSIONS; Your assessment happens in QUIZ form after each group of lectures. HANDS-ON is still hands-on.
Introduction to echocardiography. Starts from History goes into Physics of Echo, Echo views, Apical, Parasternal, Suprasternal, Subcostal, and Knobs of the machine, Hemodynamics, etc. Total of 25 lectures (varies as content is dynamically changed based on the feedback of students).
In Level 2 we move on to accomplishing bigger goals and making you a CLINICAL echocardiographer. We discuss presentations of acyanotic CHD, cyanotic HCD, Neonatal presentation of Heart diseases, PDA, ASD, TOF. We show you images of these conditions.
3 SECTIONS TO IT:
What all is included in this level:
In Level 3, we teach you the practical things. We get you over to our place, do echoes, get your hands refined and then start doing echoes at your clinical setting itself. THIS HAS BEEN AFFECTED BY COVID CURRENTLY. Then you have to send us 1 normal/abnormal study once a week for 6 months. And then you are well qualified.
You need to make th payment and send us the repayment receipt via whatsapp 9958728855, or by email to email@example.com. Your course (level 1) would be allocated to you. Similarly for Level 2 and Level 2.
If a course has been started, we cannot obviously cancel your course participation. Lectures once opened on the training site, cannot be revoked. So there is no return policy on joining a course.
A good internet connection, a clear audio and ability to go on video call for demonstration is essential. A very poor connection especially for video calls is a major setback for live sessions. For Zoom sessions you may keep you video off till you want to convey something and talk. Plus you should have the time for it; should be able to spare 30 min to 1 hour for the same. FOR GROUP DISCUSSIONS AND LIVE SESSIONS
1. DO NOT USE HOT SPOTS
2. DO NOT USE ONLY DATA IN POOR CONNECTION AREAS
Yes, you will need the following:
1. A Hardbound Copy
2. Pens: Blue, Black, Red: Specifically these colors
3. HOW TO PRACTICE HOLDING AND MOVING THE PROBE WHEN ONE DOESNT HAVE AN ECHO MACHINE: USE A WHITEBOARD MARKER PEN (SAME THICKNESS)
The the Online lectures will be available to you for a total of 6 months. this is enough time for you to learn echo in totality.
I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE THE PAYMENT FOR
LEVEL 1: 20,000 INR
LEVEL 2: 20,000 INR
LEVEL 3: 20,000 INR
LEVEL 1+2 : 40,000 INR
WE HAVE TRAINED MORE THAN 160 CANDIDATES TILL DATE AND MAJORITY ARE DOING ECHO INDEPENDENTLY
Dr. Poonam Agrawal working in the Govt. Medical College of Bilaspur, Chhatisgarh tells about her experience after completing Level 1 and Level 2 Neonatal & Pediatric Echo Training Course provided by Dr. Vikas Kohli
Dr. Vikas Kohli's Introduction to the course
Echo is not just about learning to hold the probe, but, understanding the patients congenital heart disease best and adding this echo information to better manage the patient. The echocardiogram information is essential, which is why we are teaching it to you.
We know Echo is not easy to learn. It needs to be learnt in a very systematic way, one step at a time. It needs multimodality sources of knowledge flowing into you: audio, video, ppt, drawings, flow diagrams and patient based teaching.
Individualized lecture discussion, clarification of each point, each query, things you would not ask in a group you feel comfortable asking right then and there.
Dr. Vikas Kohli graduated in with 5 gold medals from the University College of Medical Sciences, New Delhi in 1986. He subsequently finished his Pediatric training from PGIMER (Chandigarh). He completed his Pediatric Residency (USA) from the Montefiore Medical Center, New York and trained in Pediatric Cardiology at the University of Miami. He subsequently practised Pediatric Cardiology in Florida, USA. He has been Director of Pediatric Cardiology at RTIICS, Kolkata; he also has been Incharge of Non-Invasive Lab, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.
He has been awarded Best Research in Pediatrics Award at the National Indian Academy of Pediatrics Conference 1991 & at the University of Miami Best Research Award in 1996. He has also been awarded the American Heart Association/Genentech Award 1996; The American College of Cardiology – Affiliate in Training Award 1997. In addition, he has received the award for Excellence in Medical record documentation by the Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami, Florida.
He has performed several unique interventional procedures including Flow Restrictor Implantation in Pulmonary Artery for the first time in India; performed a balloon angioplasty in a 1.3 Kg child and stent implantation in a 1.8 kg child. Recently in Aug 2011 he performed an angioplasty in an 1100 gram baby.
His main area of interest is in neonatal Interventions; his current area of interest is Fetal Cardiology (Fetal Echocardiography) and improving neonatal cardiac survivals in developing countries.
He has more than 50 publications. He has written more than 5 chapters. He is currently on the Board of Editors for 3 Journal and reviewer for 5 Journals.
I came from Algeria. I was afraid how 7 days will be enough to have the facts, and to learn after this, how to do echocardiography alone!! Infact with Dr. Vikas Kohli method, everything get easier, topics first, explanations then practice.
Everyday new views, every day new information buy never more than what I can understand. Very good experience, a change of my life to meet Dr. Vikas and to learn from him.
Technically I know only the terms of views. With the model of human heart along with diagram was most helpful and that was early to understand. If anything is wrong, I can say. But everything is perfect.
It was excellent to learn all the new things. Topics and lectures were informative & excellent. They were very informative. What I have learnt I will apply to patients.
It is a very interactive course. Dr. Vikas Kohli is really an amazing teacher as he clears all your doubts and gets to the basics and your concepts are all so clear. We got enough opportunity for hands on training. I feel very confident after the course.
The most interesting part of the course was detailed explanation of various views, interesting case scenarios discussed on one to one basis, this was excellent come. Keep it up.
