Echo is not just about learning to hold the probe, but, understanding the patients congenital heart disease best and adding this echo information to better manage the patient. The echocardiogram information is essential, which is why we are teaching it to you. Neonatal & Pediatric Echo training at its best.
We know Echo is not easy to learn. It needs to be learnt in a very systematic way, one step at a time. It needs multimodality sources of knowledge flowing into you: audio, video, ppt, drawings, flow diagrams and patient based teaching.
Every person learning Echo stumbles on a different challenge. It is the job of the trainer to recognise it and emphasize on it. Some find the hemodynamic calculations difficult, others the subcostal imaging and many the Segmental analysis.
Beginners start from Level I. Even those who handle the probe and machine are asked to start from Level I unless they have had formal LEARNING of Echocardiography basics. This is to ensure, we all speak the same nomenclature, know the same views. The foundations of all further learning are laid in this Level. A student who diligently goes through Level I is bound to be a good echocardiographer.
Level II ensures you get to learn the probe movements and understand the routine of following the steps of echocardiography as a routine.
You need to start practising but you still need supervision. This level is meant for you to ensure understand the need to follow the sequence and you fine tune your echocardiography skills.
LEVEL I 2 DAYS
You will learn all necessary basics in these 2 days. From Physics, Cardiac Anatomy, Echo-Anatomy, Probe Positions/Movements.
LEVEL II 5 DAYS
Establish the routine of doing an echo, learn the procedure
LEVEL III 6 MONTHS
Supervised performance of echoes for the first 6 months. The echoes are not critiqued for the diagnosis but image quality. Each study is critiqued by the view. Studies have to performed in the format provided.

Technically I know only the terms of views. With the model of human heart along with diagram was most helpful and that was early to understand. If anything is wrong, I can say. But everything is perfect.
It was excellent to learn all the new things. Topics and lectures were informative & excellent. They were very informative. What I have learnt I will apply to patients.
It is a very interactive course. Dr. Vikas Kohli is really an amazing teacher as he clears all your doubts and gets to the basics and your concepts are all so clear. We got enough opportunity for hands on training. I feel very confident after the course.
The most interesting part of the course was detailed explanation of various views, interesting case scenarios discussed on one to one basis, this was excellent come. Keep it up.
